Who's ready to defend the Constitution?  A plea for defensive filibuster.

Mon Oct 08, 2007 at 05:55:00 PM PDT

The New York Times is reporting here that the Dems will cave on warrantless wiretapping.

I say, that is freakin' bullshit.

Why did we elect these people?

To STOP George Bush.

And now, they want to give him more, unlimited and unaccountable power to determine who he can target for wiretaps.

Have they totally lost their minds?  That's like giving Satan the keys to Heaven's Gate.

Article and discussion on the flip.

Two months after vowing to roll back broad new wiretapping powers won by the Bush administration, Congressional Democrats appear ready to make concessions that could extend some of the key powers granted to the National Security Agency.

I say, they should not extend, approve or otherwise authorize ANY further powers for George Bush's NSA.

And you know what, if there are Dems in the Senate that are willing to give him such powers, they deserve to be targeted for primaries.  That is, AFTER they have their heads examined.

If they are unwilling to stop them, then 41 Dems must be willing to stand up and stop this.  If Reid is intent on bringing it to a vote, it is up to 41 Dems to vote to sustain a filibuster.

They must REVOLT against this un-Constitutional power grab.

NO MORE Military Commissions Acts.

No More "Patriot" Acts.

If this goes down, we are in deep trouble.

You can say "lights out" to democracy.

The ACLU and other civil rights orgs are on the case:

‘This still authorizes the interception of Americans’ international communications without a warrant in far too many instances and without adequate civil liberties protections,” said Kate Martin, director of the Center for National Security Studies, who was among the group that met with House officials.

Caroline Frederickson, director of the Washington legislative office of the American Civil Liberties Union, said she was troubled by the Democrats’ acceptance of broad, blanket warrants for the N.S.A., rather than the individualized warrants traditionally required by the intelligence court.

So, it's time to take action.

Sign UP! and take action over at Bob Fertik's Democrats.com site to let your Democratic congresspeople know that you won't take this lying down.  Or sitting up.  Or whatever.

ACT to protect our rights.
